About Me Minecraft And Screencastify Install   Students will be able to log in to Minecraft: Education Edition with their AISD email address. This information can be found in the User Profile menu on the AISD Portal. After logging into an AISD email account, students will be asked their student ID number and password in an AISD Portal pop-up window. This will occur regardless of the device that the student is using.      Below are links for installing Minecraft: Education Edition on any device for students. Scroll down to your device to find specific instructions. Before installing a personal computer at home, students should talk to a caregiver.      After Minecraft: Education Edition is installed, you must login each time using your Austin ISD account: YouTube video      Instructions for Installing On Austin ISD Student Chromebooks      Austin ISD Chromebooks capable of running the Android version Minecraft Education Edition will require you to access the Minecraft installation page from the Google Play Store. Chromebooks designed for students should be able to find the Google Play icon at the bottom right of the screen.      Only apps that have been approved by districts are available for download in the Google Play store app. Click on the Minecraft Install button in Google Play.      This video will show the steps required to install and access Minecraft: Education Edition on the AISD Chromebook.      Instructions for Installing on Non-Austin ISD Windows Computers      Click the purple Windows button to download Minecraft Education Edition Windows Desktop Edition. The downloaded file should be located and opened. (It will be either open in a new tab at the bottom of the browser or in the Windows Downloads folder.)      The Windows operating system will walk you through the installation process. Select your language and accept the End-User License Agreement. Continue to click Next until are asked to click the Install button. The installation can take a few minutes before seeing a Finish button that will complete the installation.      Instructions for Installing on Macintosh Computers      Click the purple MAC button to download Minecraft: Education Edition for Macintosh. You'll need to locate the downloaded file and open it. (It will be either in a new browser tab at the bottom of the browser or within the Downloads folder.)      The Macintosh operating system will guide you through the process of installing. Select the language you prefer and agree to the End-User License Agreement. Continue clicking Next until you are asked to click the "Install" button. It is possible for the installation to take several minutes before you reach the Finish button. This will end the installation.      Directions for Installing On iPads      Once the teacher has installed Minecraft Education Edition on an Austin ISD student iPad, students are able to access Minecraft. Locate the app within the Creator Apps group on the iPad during school hours.      Download Minecraft onto your iPad from the iTunes Store. The app is available as a free download. Click here to view the app on iTunes.      Installing the Screencastify Screencastify Capture Extension      A live demonstration of the learning can be a valuable way to demonstrate the concept. Screen capture video is a great way to demonstrate an online activity for students or teachers to capture the digital product with their recorded voice to describe it.      Screencastify is an Austin ISD approved Chrome extension that allows staff and students the option of installing the extension on their own by visiting the Chrome Web Store.      Instructions for students installing Screencastify      Austin Independent School District Chrome Web Store is available to students. From there, any app that is approved can be downloaded. This is the only way to install an Chrome app or Chrome extension on an Austin ISD Chromebook. Start the Chrome launcher on the Chromebook. Locate and open the Chrome Web Store App. Click the Austin Independent School District link to view the library of approved apps. Locate and install Screencastify from this page.      The video below shows you how to connect to the Chrome Web Store and install Screencastify.      Capture Your Video      All students are able to create videos that are up to 5 minutes in length once the Screencastify extension has been installed. Before you begin recording, practice your group presentation. Stuff Keep in mind that the presentation should not exceed 2 minutes in length. Some students might want to make edits to the Screencastify video. Your free AISD account comes with a basic video editing tool. Learn more about editing video on Screencastify's support site.
